Youth in Philanthropy
The Youth in Philanthropy program at the Community Giving Foundation empowers high school students across the region as they work together to create visible impact in their schools and communities. Through a hands-on educational approach to giving and grantmaking, students learn about the meaning of “philanthropy”, the local nonprofit sector, and the importance of volunteerism. After surveying their peers to build local needs assessments, each group organizes their own grant round to support local youth programs.
In April 2025, students celebrated a year of impact by awarding $90,000 in student-led grantmaking. The October 2025 kick-off marked a regional milestone for the program—the participation of all public schools in the Foundation’s service. The program continues to instill a giving spirit in local youth as over 250 students from 20 school districts and groups come together to grow as leaders and future community philanthropists.
